I have started taking Naltrexone for hunger reduction, but later found that it also helps slow my thoughts, i.e., it protects against racing thoughts. Has anyone used it specifically for bipolar mgmt?

Also, my new combo, as of one month ago, is Lybalvi + Naltrexone,, and it seems to be effective.

Is anyone on this particular combo as bipolar maintenance meds?

My daughter was on Naltrexone for a month but it didn't help her skin picking.

I'm not on it now and I may not be allowed to change meds for a while because of some issues I've been having but I'm really interested in trying this for weight management. It has the rare feature of not interacting with either of the 2 meds I'm on that interact with everything and I'd love to see if it might help at night. There is literally a time in the night when I feel my clozapine levels peak and I'm immediately very hungry. One night I missed my meds and didn't have that desperate to eat everything feeling. I hope that this is an option for me.

thanks for sharing!

Took it for alcohol/opioid cravings. Felt depressed, had a constant headache, and slept a little but fitfully every night. I didn’t have “cravings” but damn did I want to stop it, get high, and just feel okay for one day when I was on it.

It helps me with hunger control and I am thankful for it. I am on a slightly elevated dose - not 50 mg but 75 mg, taken as half a tablet in the morning and a whole tablet one hour before bedtime, and my liver enzymes will be monitored quarterly as Naltrexone has been known to cause reversible liver toxicity at high doses (I imagine much higher than mine). So far so good and the last labs showed even lower levels of liver enzymes than before I went on Naltrexone.

I hope you will be able to start on it!

When I first took it in early 2019, for hunger reduction, it didn't reduce hunger and it made me depressed. So, I stopped. Now it helps control hunger and doesn't make me depressed. Maybe I am lucky for once
