Had an ultrasound finally which showed my new Mirena IUD of a week and a half is embedded in my uterus and the arms are folded down instead of like a T. I tried telling them something is wrong - cramping, back ache, lightheaded, nausea, etc but they said it was the PEs. I am at a loss! I knew something was wrong immediately after insertion when I had bleeding and bad cramping in the front and my back - and I was so dizzy I couldn’t drive home for two hours!

That's horrible! I remember reading your post right after the insertion and I thought that really didn't sound right. I've had 2 IUD placements, took Advil before the first one, Tylenol for the 2nd. I left the doctor's office immediately afterwards both times. I had a little cramping that day, maybe the next, but nothing major; it was all really minor compared to my normal period cramps.

I take it they removed the IUD? How are you feeling now?

I feel the same. Bad cramping front and lower back. Nobody’s contacted me about the us results. I had to read/translate them with Caleb over the phone! And they certainly haven’t removed it yet!

Yeah, I agree with Blueberrybook. When I had my IUD inserted I had some Tylenol and Klonopin before the insertion and there was just some cramping but nothing a heatpack didn't help with. I reckon getting it out was actually worse because I didn't have Tylenol or Klonopin with that.

I'm glad you got answers now though, that's useful.

I’m too scared to get it inserted. I got pelvic inflammatory disease last time I had it removed.

Yeah, um, my doctor mentioned something about me getting an IUD and I was like, "Hell no!"

I hope you can get yours removed ASAP.

Caleb said the report says it’s perforated my uterus about half way.

It was put in wrong. Hence the cramping and bleeding and dizziness right after and for 2 hours after.

The report describes the position of an intrauterine device (IUD) within the endometrial cavity. However, its full extent is not clearly visible due to a potential folding or embedding of its parts within the myometrial wall, which is the muscular layer of the uterus. This suggests a possibility of myometrial penetration. The visible portion of the endometrium, the inner lining of the uterus, measures 0.3 cm. The right and left ovaries were not identified in the examination.
In cases of IUD myometrial penetration, removal of the device is usually recommended. This is particularly true if the patient experiences symptoms such as pain or bleeding. The removal method will depend on the degree of embedment and may range from a simple office procedure to a hysteroscopic removal, which might be performed under anesthesia. In some cases, a laparoscopy or even a laparotomy (abdominal surgery) might be necessary, especially if there are complications or severe pelvic adhesions.
It is important to remember that IUDs can still be effective at preventing pregnancy even with some degree of malpositioning. However, the report mentions that the IUD is poorly delineated, which may suggest that its contraceptive effectiveness could be compromised. Therefore, until the situation is resolved, it's advisable to use alternative contraception.
In the context of the endometrial thickness, a measurement of 0.3 cm is within the typical range during the menstrual phase (days 1-5), where the endometrium is shedding. However, the normal range of endometrial thickness varies throughout the menstrual cycle. The presence of the IUD might limit a complete evaluation of the endometrium, according to Dr.Oracle.
If there are any concerns about the IUD's position or effectiveness, or if symptoms such as pain, unusual bleeding, or missing strings arise, it's essential to consult with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and guidance. According to the NHS, they can assess the situation and recommend the appropriate course of action, which could involve additional imaging tests like ultrasound or X-ray to better visualize the IUD's location.

Endometrium: An intrauterine device is noted within the endometrial
cavity but poorly delineated in its entire extent due to infolding of
the lateral arms/vertical limb upon itself with likely myometrial
penetration.
-Thickness: Presence of IUD limits evaluation of the endometrial
thickness however the visualized portion of the endometrium measures up
to 0.3 cm..
