hi there,
I am a mom of a depressed teen girl. I would like to meet other parents in similar situations. i hope to hear what works and what does not, some success stories please as well... some days it feels like it will never end. she started on SSRI 5 weeks ago, and I am unsure if they are working. i am also afraid of what they will do to her brian longer term... please share your stories with me and let me know how to keep going when it gets tricky. Thanks |

Hi @Nara welcome to MSF. I am sorry your daughter is suffering from depression. Providing sides affects of meds may be best to contact prescriber or contact pharmacist. or you might check the specific med and see possible side affects online.
I found I had to deal with my anger and frustration before those just added to the problem. Would you consider getting a therapist for yourself to learn to cope with your daugher or a support group ? Any positive reinforcement you can provide by averting negative responses to your daughter would be a help. If you and she can do exercises or yoga together that may help. A low carb diet can help and avoiding recreational drugs and alcohol is a big help as those can mask problems or make them worse.
