I've been a subscriber to home delivery of the local newspaper until very recently (as described here).
I now have to go out and buy the paper for my wife. Today I also picked up the Sunday NY Daily News. I love it! My parents used to get that paper (along with the Long Island Press) before switching to Newsday. It has a great vibe; I think we might switch to it. I'm just curious how you'all consume news.

I no longer get the newspaper as it is way too expensive and only delivers two days a week and is only 6 pjs. You can subscribe to a daily online paper for much less.

My mom has an online subscription. Its cool because you can look at articles from decades ago in their archives. So if you want to find some random story from 1996 they will have it.

I still have a hard copy subscription to the Toronto Star which I get daily. It is a tad expensive but I prefer to read newspapers in print form rather than on-line. I have a digital subscription for the New York Times, but only read a few articles each day. I have a digital and print subscription to the Atlantic, which I really enjoy. I read 3-4 articles daily from them and then the monthly magazine.

We used to get the Boston Globe on Sundays but delivery became so unreliable, we stopped it. Digital only subscriptions now. My brother still gets a paper copy of his local paper delivered. He’s probably the only one in the neighborhood who does.
(Aside: my first job was as a paper carrier when I was 12!)

I stopped getting a print newspaper while I was still working. I never had time to read it. Seemed like a waste, though it did make good kindling for the fireplace. The few times I've gotten a print copy to read a particular article I found it light, both in quality and quality of articles.

We sporadically get a local letter for a few towns in the region. We put it under the cat litter in their boxes to make it easier to clean.

Thanks for all the feedback!
@MuddyBoots, I recall teasing a tech journalist once that everything he writes ends up lining a bird cage or cat box. BTW, I've found that shredded newspaper makes a decent fill for a litter box (in an emergency), although it has to be changed very often. @lizardlady, we don't use the fireplace any more. Besides we get enough junk mail, and we have plenty of old financial records, that I think I'd have plenty of kindling. @DocJohn, our delivery guy is amazingly reliable, and he delivers the NY Times (and probably other Tribune papers, as well). I'd be happy giving a recurring donation to the CT Mirror and AP, even though they provide free access. I'm also a sustaining member of our local NPR. I admire that "pay what you can" business model. But, my wife and I like hard copy. She's confused by technology and annoyed by having to charge devices. And I use a computer for work, so I'm not thrilled with using one to get news.

@Rthompson89, our paperboy is a man that drives by and throws the paper onto the end of our driveway before 5am. Or at least he used to until we got cut off.

I had a paper route in my teens and had 60 customers, 75 cents/week. I saved money to buy a guitar and amp and take guitar lessons. I would avoid one customer that had an angry German shepherd and I never collected money from them.
