I got this carton of passion fruit Tazo tea concentrate. I had some on Saturday but I forgot to put it in the fridge until yesterday afternoon.

I had some earlier today and my stomach hurts badly right now. So idk if I should have put it in the fridge immediately after opening it. Or if It’s just somatic and my stomach hurts because I was worried I’d feel sick if I didn’t put it away

Does the container say “refrigerate after opening”?

Is there sugar in the Tazo tea? For bacteria to grow, they need a food source. Plain, unsweetened tea can not support much bacterial growth. On the other hand, a lot of sugar can also be lethal to bacteria. It bursts the cells' walls. That is why you don't have to refrigerate candy.

Whatever was in your tea, I'ld be willing to bet it did you no harm whatsoever. It's just not a good medium to grow germs in. Beverages that come sealed in cans or cartons start off pretty close to sterile, until you open them. Before every home had a refrigerator, a lot of things were stored room temperature for a couple of days, without becoming dangerous. It depends on the item. Meat and fish grow bugs very readily, but not soft drinks.

Yeah it said refrigate after opening and there is sugar in it. I know some things that say refrigerate after opening are fine on the counter.

I had a call into my doctor because I started these stress vitamins the other week and I think they are making me sick and lethargic.
