I don’t really care what happens to my body (hell, if it’s safe for the coyotes they can chew me til nothing’s left and I’d be cool with that), but I would want to be remembered as someone determined to find answers regardless of how much truth can suck. Someone who was ready to defend anyone deemed worth defending. Someone who had one of the shittiest upbringings you can find in Northern New England but came to a point she said “efff that,” and taught herself how to be a person and overcame being the traumatized monster she was for too long.

I side with @MuddyBoots as for my remains. It's similar to the Zoroastrian practice of "laying out the dead." Tower of Silence - Wikipedia. I doubt this can be done in USA.

Therefore I hope my death is brought about by a hungry wild apex predator, so that I can die and be consumed all in one literal fell swoop. Sure it will be scary, unpleasant and painful, but only briefly. Meanwhile the noble animal leaves with a nice full tummy, and littler creatures can have their share as well.

As for remembrance. hmm, I think you'll remember that! But seriously, I think folks will remember me as being a funny, quiet oddball, and that's fine with me.

Has anyone here done a "Write your own obituary" thread yet? It's a writing exercise that's also supposed to get your sas in gear because most folks realize they've done very little with their lives. I recall writing two. One was a total fabrication for fun.

Ha, when you're ready we can both walk into the woods in cougar country covered in rabbit blood and wander far off trail (that was dark and not 100% serious, in reality I'd probably just drive up the road and find a moose to piss off and then maybe a conversation on moose being more dangerous than black bears will start)

I was just thinking I'd be more likely to get critically injured by a moose than a predator, especially during rutting season. And I'd be disappointed that the moose, being an herbivore, would walk away afterward.

But even before that thought, I realized that ticks and mosquitoes are even deadlier if they're harboring a virus or a Lyme-like bug.

I wish I could get paid for all these thoughts...

Yeah, with Lyme at least that's only if your symptoms go unrecognized and untreated for a while. Like half the people I know have had or have Lyme and some people have it chronically and have prolonged episodes of fatigue, weakness, nausea, excessive sleeping, etc., but most people spot a rash, go to the doctors quickly, take antibiotics, and never really thought about it again.

And if you get trampled by a moose alone in the woods, not much of a chance of getting out of there unless someone rescues you. Last time I saw a moose was about 4 miles into a seldom used trail at 3,000+ft elevation (like 2.5 hours back to the trailhead) and I guarantee if I wound up on the ground with broken ribs possibly having penetrated my lungs, there was no fking way I'd make it out if I couldn't/didn't use my SOS satellite messenger. And maybe the moose would walk away, but something else can come along and eat the meat.

Low key loving this conversation
