Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

We're going formal this time!

First in-person session at Dr. T's new office today. Yeah, the thing I saw in the background on video that I thought was the fish? It was not. I didn't see it, glancing around, so I figured it hadn't made the cut. Took me till 2/3 of the way till session to ask him about it (we were discussing other stuff in the meantime). It's in a dish with some other glass things in a low shelf in a bookcase, not in an area I could easily see from where I was sitting. Still, good to know it was there. He said he didn't think to mention it today.

At first, he said something about forgetting about it. Before he explained that, i asked, "Do you mean you forgot that I was the one who gave it to you?" Dr. T: "Oh, I could never forget that!"

I am deeply worried about both of you.

No fruit cup for either of you. (from the mel brooks movie High Anxiety -cloris leachman and harvey korman)
And See :47

NOTE - this is a comedy but if tongue in cheek role play is not for you -then don't watch it. Cloris Leachman played nurse diesel

Hey, I’m not the one doing the LOL’ing or saying I know ex-hankster better than she does herself. I should not be punished.

I love Cloris Leachman soooo much - not leastwise because she was Lassie's first mother.

@@ - i dont see you eating anything so pedestrian as fruit cup. Not with your cozy eggs and whatnot.

A good fruit cup can go far.

I liked June Lockhart (who is actually still alive it seems) - or rather - I had a giant baby lesbian crush on June Lockhart when I was like 6 or 7. I liked C leachman on MTMoore - a toss up as to which was my favorite there - Leachman or Betty White

I don’t want to give anyone the vapors, but I have never seen an episode of the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

I think exhankster and I may be the only two old enough to have seen it not on re-runs. I think anyone watching it now would find it fairly dated - some parts still funny (like any episode with B White in it or Leachman)

Yet in my mind you look like her.

Betty White was the BEST in MTM. So wicked and sniping!

Couch Workout Club day 12

I got my steps in today by walking around a couple of shops.
I wanted to go to my favourite garden, but the weather was not on my side.

Couch Workout Club Day 12 (well, I started a little late, so probably like Day 7 for me): Got some of my steps in by dancing to some Postal Service songs (and a couple songs by other artists).

Their best known song is
(it was in a commercial at some point in the U.S.)

Same main singer as Death Cab for Cutie

Is it set in a nursing home with the two of them rooming together and getting up to hijinks while I am the harassed home supervisor trying to keep them in line?

You only THINK your the supervisor. SD thinks she's the nutritionist and keeps trying to smoke ribs out back a la Fried Green Tomatoes. I think im the consulting psychiatrist who only has to show up once a week. Jersey obviously is running the place.

So SD and I are nuts, you’re a professional Freudian, and Jersey plays herself?

How many times does SD set fire to the place?

Stopdog must keep the smoker a reasonable distance from the nursing home. I will impose licensing guidelines so you all have a place to live.

I’m fighting a little bug. Took some Mucinex DM last night which should have knocked me out but it did the opposite. I couldn’t slow down and fall asleep last night to save my life and now I’m in some sort of drowsy nausiated stupor this AM. It wasn’t a good weekend to catch a bug because I have to be in work by 6am both Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully tonight I sleep.
