My therapist has been very controlling when it comes to my weight and she doesn't want me to lose any. She is a firm believer in healthy at any size.

I went to the doctor today for a physical and my blood pressure and heart rate were high. I've lost 4 pounds since late Janurary by eating less and cutting out stuff because of some GI issues, and I've also been working out. My doctor said if keep losing weight then my blood pressure and heart rate will get better and I can avoid meds

But my therapist just like gets really upset when I talk about weight. I need to lose about 40 pounds.

Does anyone know how to handle this?

Have you told your therapist about the doctor’s advice? Could you get your doctor to write a letter explaining their recommendations?
Thanks for this!

This is what I would suggest, too.

She never responded to my email even though she always does. Lol shes mad. I am not joking. She is a literal control freak about weight.

“Thank you for your concern. I do not wish to discuss this with you.” Then change the subject. If she keeps bringing it up, just be a broken record. You are allowed to set a boundary about what you want to talk about. If she’s a decent therapist, she should respect that.
Thanks for this!

Find a new therapist or tell the current on you won't discuss weight with her and if she brings it -don't respond and go on with what you want to talk about. You often talk about food when you post - so maybe she thinks you are inviting it from her.
