This may be an upsetting post.

My mother is blackmailing me! She says she won’t give me my new Cpap supplies unless I clean my car. I had the supplies sent to her house because there are porch pirates at my place and my mailbox is tiny. Now, my Cpap is fine. I don’t NEED the supplies right now - it's just time to get new ones- but that not the point! She's just a mean person who SOMETIMES can act nice. I guess that's to put me off my guard. Anyway, it's no big deal to throw out a few things or put them in the trunk. The car is not the point! And Kevin threatened to never help me with my car again! I have never not thanked him for his car help! This is what happens when two people who are codependent get married. I get THIS! Yes, they met at a meeting for spouses of alcoholics. Even 25 years later that's a huge no-no! That's always bothered me - especially when they pull this type of thing. And I get to keep dealing with being an ACOA. No I don’t live with them! They still try to control me. My dad was the alcoholic and he’s been dead for 4 years and I’m STILL dealing with being ACOA!

Coming from a household where my father blackmailed my whole family on a regular basis, I can understand how upsetting this is for you. My dad is still alive but the last thing he used to blackmail us with was our inheritance. He would say, "You'd better do x, y & z or I'll give your inheritance to your cousins up north!!" We finally told him, "We don't want your inheritance, go ahead and give it to them, they're young and could probably use it." After a while he realized, his blackmailing wasn't working to his advantage, and he stopped with this particular way. He still tries with different methods, but we know how to outsmart him now. Take your power back Moose and clean your car when you're good and ready to do it. smh Perhaps keep using your old c-pap equipment until the next time you can re-order it and find another way to get it delivered. Let mom keep your current delivery as a reminder of how not to treat you.

Good idea but I only get supplies once a year. The old stuff already wears out pretty fast after that long.

Yeah Ruftin has the right idea. You can’t let her have anything she can use to control you with because she will. For future shipments, look into having it shipped to the post office and picking it up there. It’s called holding it for pickup and it’s free (at least here). I just hate seeing you in her fingertips over and over and being let down and controlled like this so often.

Thanks, Muddy. I never thought about having things sent to the post office!
