Prevalence and clinical correlates of co-occurring insomnia and hypersomnia symptoms in depression - PMC)
I have both. Hypersomnia became very bad after Covid and now, more than 2.5 years later, I still have not recovered. The article explains that it is actually common enough to have both, especially in people with MDD and bipolar.

Very interesting. I definitely have hypersomnia and insomnia. I'm in my insomnia phase of the night right now. Eventually I'll get to sleep and then I'll sleep a long time. I hate it; it's one of the worst parts of BP for me because it restricts my days.

Horribly restrictive. And also, for me, unpredictable. I cannot know in advance what my day will be like.
