Dear friends, I have two diagnoses. Bipolar II and Intermittent Explosive Disorder. I was Dx’d with IED decades ago by a therapist, but only medical doctors can officially diagnose. My current pdoc has dx'd me with IED. I only today started learning about it. Neither of these providers told me much about it, or now to deal with it.

It's like a seizure -- sudden, dramatic, destructive. I don't hurt people or animals, only personal property in my home.

It is more prevalent in the USA than bipolar but I don’t find a forum here for it. Does anyone know of a forum for IED???

Sorry @WantToShare I can't say as I know of a forum for it but hoping someone comes along who can give you the information you need. I think we can both say that your triggers are any electronic device that doesn't work. Are you on a mood stabilizer?

Hi Ruftin. Yes, that is one of my triggers. But anything that is SUDDEN like, when something drops, someone else drops sometehing of mine, the phone rings when I am concentrasting on something, loud noises, my meds trays were hard to figure out....any thing that is unexpected and sudden, not just electronics.

I think maybe the Mayo Clinic miight have an IED support forum. I wrote this question to the public library. It's interesting that it's so hard to find a forum, since IED is very common. Maybe up to twice as prevalent as Bipolar Disorder, and certainly more prevalent than a lot of the obscure conditions that have forums out there.

Interestingly enough, the very knowledge thast IED resembles a seizure disorder, therefore, completely irresistible, is refreshing for me. It's "out there" --- not part of me. Anyway, that's how I view it. It's something Else, that attacks me. Bipolar disorder is very much "me." But not IED. It's not Me.

I was originally dx ied. And put on mood stabilizers, then mood disorder nos for years, flipped back and forth bipolar then scizoaffective bipolar type.
