Hi, how are you? I want to write this to see if anyone can come up with any solutions—maybe we can figure something out; two or more heads are better than one

I come from an abusive family—the abuse comes from my father. I’m 23 years old; I ran away from home two or three years ago, and now I live in the Netherlands. I work until I can’t take it anymore—I’m saving money for my education and to help my mother and my little brother (7 years old) so they can get out of my father’s house. But everything seems to be getting more and more complicated; I feel like I can’t take it anymore.
I want them to be free, but it seems impossible.

1. I work to take care of them; I buy them food and save money (for my mother and brother).
2. My mother can’t work because 1) my father won’t let her, and 2) my father took out loans in her name; she has so much debt that anything still in her name or any money she earns from work would be seized by the government.

3. We can’t make many moves because my brother is young—he’s 7 years old. If it goes to court, we’ve already been warned that the following could happen:

A) Custody would be shared (my father doesn’t care about my brother; he’s repeatedly said and implied on numerous occasions that if they get divorced, my brother will end up dead—the court doesn’t seem to care about this)

B) If my mother gets custody—which is unlikely—she would go to a shelter for abused women. She would have 6–8 months to find a job and achieve sufficient financial stability, secure housing, etc.
If he doesn't manage to do so within 6–8 months, he'll lose custody of my brother, who'll end up in a juvenile detention center—we all know what happens to kids in those places; they usually end up turning to crime because of the various influences there.

My father has decided he wants to move to Belgium, so he’s taking my mother and my little brother with him. In Belgium, it’s easier for a woman to get custody of the child than in the country we’re from (my father doesn’t know this), but for that to happen, she needs financial stability. My father won’t be home often because he’ll have to work—does anyone know how my mother could find a job under the table? (It has to be under the table because, for now, she doesn’t have the proper papers to live in Belgium.) Does anyone know what I can do? Does anyone have any ideas? I don’t feel alive anymore. Is there anyone who can come up with an idea?
I keep thinking about that saying: “Even if a thousand fall beside you and ten thousand to your right, they won’t be able to reach you”—that’s the only thing keeping me going right now.

@Iamhere0
You have a lot on your shoulders. How difficult would it be for your mother to obtain proper papers to live in Belgium if she wants to stay there?

your parents moving from Netherlands to Belgium means they are immigrating to another country. depending on which visa your parents get will set the rules of what they must follow.

your parents will need to follow immigration rules if they plan to immigrate to another country.

my suggestion is contact immigration in Belgium to find out what your parents will have to do to immigrate and secure work there. what the immigration process is, what paperwork is needed, passport, ID and so on is needed.

that way your parents will be prepared at the borders for entering the country legally.

I see this is your first post. Welcome. I’m sorry you have so much on your shoulders. It is admirable what you are doing. I’ve no advise, I do hope your family moves to Belgium. Sounds like your mother will have a better chance there.

@Iamhere0 I’m sorry I’m just seeing your post. Welcome to the community. I’m sorry your father is so abusive. I have to agree that getting settled in Belgium is a good first step. Then take it from there. You are quoting Psalms 91:7. Hang onto that, it’s a great verse. Though a thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, no harm will come near you. Praying for you sweetheart.
