Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

Oh, i've outdone myself this time, if i do say so myself! Recovered, Couch, get it?! Plus cuz all The Matrix movies are Re- something. Not that ive ever seen one. Maybe Keanu will pay us a visit. He likes older wimmins.

I don't do these threads because for some reason I like fighting in this subforum, but I saw an opportunity to be stupidly unoriginal in youtube comment fashion so....

Just got back from the store cuz I got a wild hair and decided to make bread today. The yeast in my cabinet expired in 2022 . I tested it to see if it would still work but no go. So, off to the store haha. Now the dough is rising for the next hour! Mmmm it smells so good. I'm using my Mom's old Cuban Bread recipe. I know I usually have negative things to say about her, but, I'll be honest, one good thing she did was teach all of her kids how to make bread.

H is up and walking around the house today (although I just sent him back to his room as
he's not done isolating yet) but I am glad he's feeling enough better to come out. Still running a fever though.

My drs report - weight was down 1 lb, a1c went down from 6.7 to 6.4. Bp and pulse a little higher than last time. Got 3 shots - old peoples flu, covid, and t-dap. Had a "blue" lyft driver there and a "red" driver home, both women, then a silent male albanian driver to the pharmacy. My life is a sitcom!

I tried toblerone for the first time - not bad. Not what I expected but in a good way.

Things I did today...
Bought the dancer spawn a plane ticket to come home for the holiday
Completely reorganized the bathroom now that I've moved into my cute little house
Plans with a friend I haven't seen for a while

Coffee with the youngest of the spawn and his person, in which we made plans to have a monthly open house soup night starting in December- one of bicycle guy's complaints was I am too invested in friends and family. Decided I'm really going to lean into that one.

I pick up the rest of my things tomorrow. My stomach hurts.

Toblerone is a Christmas stocking favorite with the tall folk. I will buy some giant ones for their Christmas stockings.

This has given me the urge to bake some bread.

Making your own stuff is really therapeutic. I was about to go to bed last night when the sudden urge to make some sweets popped into my head. I had a quick look in the baking cupboard and realised I had enough ingredients to make some rum truffles -and so I did. Even better, I resisted the urge to eat one afterwards, deciding to wait for a treat over the weekend.

@Lemoncake: sorry, I ignored your message a while back about my new T's name on the forum, I kind of forgot I had posted...

He's called flipper because used to (well he still does but I think it's a more intake thing) organize our goals and thoughts on a flip chart. I did really like the name because of the movie though, made me feel of a kind of hyperactive dolphine, which seems like a good description for that T too (I tried to choose a name that makes me feel something and I did indeed think of the movie, even though I have never actually seen it!).

No - it was a present to me - I am not a huge chocolate person and I don't buy stuff at airports like that (I can't bring myself to pay the prices) and I never wanted to be stuck with what looked like a giant amount of candy I don't like.

Ooooh, Sweeeeetest Day? Never miiiiind....

ETA - Lying down, feeling a little achy from all my shots yesterday. Took some tylenol, that seems to help. Also rubbing the injection sites with these giganto alcohol wipe pads i got for my insulin stuff. I never know what im gonna get when i order them, but i think this time i have a lifetime supply. Ordering one box of 100 is just annoying the wsy time flies. I think i got 2000.

Well so far, I am staying healthy while taking care of H. One of his friends that was on the trip too probably has covid now also, haven't heard yet. They drove home in the same car so it is very likely. H's temp is back to normal and he's been awake watching tv this afternoon, so he's definitely getting better.

Aw, thanks una- I'm pretty fond of them too. They are good eggs. They keep hugging me and saying "If you want to talk..." and helping to carry boxes.

WFS—bicycle guy thought you were too invested in family and friends?

Glad you left.

In other news, I slapped a picture of raw animal testicles on a lecture slide, because that’s what ancient athletes ate to get a hormone boost. We’ll see how the kids react.

You should try the fruits of the sea chocolate pralines.

I went through a Tony Chocolooney phase with their pretzel bars.

I have been sticking with Lidl own brand. I like cheap chocolate, but haven’t bought those bars since before October.

The great grandson of the Cadbury family started his own chocolate company. I’ve bought as gifts but not tried it myself. LoveCocoa.
